CARITAS - Livelihood Program Manager

Livelihood Program Manager based in Nias
(with a focus on food security and income generation)

Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Livelihood projects in cooperation with Diocesan partner organizations following the Strategic plan of Caritas Sibolga, including development of proposals and budgeting
- Regular reporting to Caritas Sibolga Management, preparation of reports to international donors and documentation of project activities Financial monitoring of ongoing Livelihood activities in cooperation with Caritas Sibolga Finance department
- Liaise with other departments of Caritas Sibolga, Diocesan partners, government, NGOs and other stakeholders in the field of livelihoods
- Attend internal Management Meetings and Coordination Meetings

Requirements for this position:
- Background/interest in Agriculture and/or Community Development
- 3 years experience in NGO work in Livelihoods or related fields with management responsibilities
- Proficiency in Indonesian and good knowledge of English. Knowledge of Nias language is an asset
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Good communication and networking skills
- Interest in training and capacity building
- Long-term commitment

The Livelihood Officer/Livelihood Program Manager will be based in Gunung Sitoli with frequent travel to project locations all over the island.

The Diocesan Caritas of Sibolga is the development and relief agency of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Sibolga with the aim of endorsing, also in cooperation with other organisms, the capacity of the Diocesan community to promote human development, social justice and peace, with a particular attention given to the poorest and with a predominant pedagogic component.
As part of its response to the 28 March earthquake and to long-term poverty in Nias, Caritas is implementing a program in Nias Island . This is an integrated program that covers many different sectors (DRR, Gender, Livelihood, Social work, Advocacy). Caritas has been operating in the island since the tsunami. It is Caritas aim to reach and support Nias people who are spread out over a wide area and living in extremely poor conditions.
