ICMC - Program Officer

The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) is a Geneva-based international humanitarian organization specializing in services to refugees, returnees, the displaced, and migrants is looking for candidates for the post of:


Title : Program Officer

Classification : National Hire

Location : Based in Bireuen, Aceh

Reports to : Program Manager

Start Date : Immediate

Contract Duration : 6 months (with possibilities of extension)

Supervisory Responsibility : Technical
supervision to 22 community counselors

Program Background:

SOT Program intends to build the capacity of local NGOs working with conflict
affected populations. We intend to do this through training in organizational
capacity, training in professional skills in providing care, grants to facilitate protection and advocacy programs and networking within Indonesia and international networks. The advertised position is to provide training and technical assistance in psychosocial counseling to a local NGO partner in Bireuen, Aceh.

Responsibilities:

In cooperation with other team members, the Program

Officer will:

Collaborate with the local NGO partner in Bireuen to facilitate their program in
psychosocial counseling;Carry out needs assessment and strategic planning activities;Develop and facilitate training in all targeted areas of the program;Conduct regular field visits to the villages to assess needs for supervision and technical assistance for the local counselors;Provide frequent individual and group supervision to the local counselors;Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the program;Maintain program data bases as required;Reporting and maintaining files/ administrative system;Interpret and/or translate materials between English and Bahasa Indonesia as required;Effectively communicate with relevant NGO, International NGO and other networks; Represent ICMC within its program networks and in public, as needed.

Qualifications

University degree (equivalent to Bachelors, major: Psychology, or Social Work)Training background and strong interest in increasing training skills;Capable of discreet work with a large amount of confidential information; Experience in providing individual and group counseling/support groups. Experience working with NGO or community groups;Ability to work cooperatively as part of a diverse team, and within diverse cultural/religious contexts;Good communications skills;Proficiency
with computer;Strong English skills and Bahasa Indonesia proficiency.
