Medical Team international - Several Positions

Medical Teams International is a non-profit organization, which serves to bring aid and medical care to those in need worldwide. We are looking for people who are skilled, passionate, determined and experienced for the positions below :

1. Project Manager (Code : 01-PM)

Duty Station : Pidie, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam
Classification : Employee, Grade 5
Estimate Starting Date : 16/06/08

Project Period : 1 (one ) year

Direct Supervisor : Program Manager – Country Office

General Function :

1. In collaboration with the program staff, develop an Action Plan for project implementation.

2. Work with the local health authorities to develop a sense of ownership for the health promotion projects. In accordance with project goals and guidance from project management staff, establish mechanisms whereby communities assume responsibility for the maintenance of the project after the departure of MTI.

3. Regularly update project implementation plans with associated time lines.

4. Ensure proper financial control and management according to the budget guidelines provided by MTI. Work closely with the project administrative coordinator to ensure timely reporting and management of documentation. Provide reliable monthly cash flow projections on a timely basis to ensure efficient cash flow.

5. Ensure maintenance of all project management and office administrative documentation (according to the guidelines provided by MTI)

6. Maintain a high degree of awareness regarding the security situation in the project area. Based upon this knowledge take adequate measures to ensure the safety of any and all MTI staff and equipment in the district.

7. Enforce all MTI protocols and regulations according to guidance provided by direct supervisor.

8. Supervise all project staff to ensure the responsible completion of their duties according to their position descriptions. This includes giving instruction, direction and evaluation to their performance.

9. To arrange schedule and perform regular project monitoring and related reporting according to documentation and guidelines provided. Ensure that the project monitoring adhere to the monitoring plan.

Requirements

1. Preferably Master of Public Health with minimum 3 years relevant experience, or Bachelors degree with minimum 5 years relevant work experience.

2. Experience in Nutrition, Health Recovery & Education Program, public health facilities, including water and sanitation

3. Organizational capacity development, program coordination and management

4. Experience working with an international NGO, with government and local organizations

5. Excellence in facilitation utilizing participatory and skills-building training methodologies

6. Written and spoken English and the ability to communicate often complex and sensitive issues to a wide audience

7. Report writing skills and experience working with donor agencies

8. Interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues

9. Networking and advocacy skills

10. Proven problem-solving and negotiation skills

11. Ability to meet critical deadlines



2. Watsan Coordinator (Code : 02-WC)

Duty Station : Lolowa’u, Nias Selatan – North Sumatera

Classification : Employee, Grade 4
Estimate Starting Date : Soon

Project Period : 1 (one ) year

Direct Supervisor : Project Manager

General Function :

1. Performs project assessments by visiting stakeholders and compiling all existing information regarding WatSan services in the communities.

2. In collaboration with the Project Manager design project activities and plan.

3. Facilitates the smooth running and the supervision of the implementation of the project through good team management and free flowing of appropriate information to team members.

4. Co-ordinates the development and implementation of the operational plan for the project activities, performs a regular evaluation of the implementation (planned versus actual), and gives suggestions about corrective measure if/when needed.

5. Reports on implementation of the project to the country office and ensures that these reports are prepared in a timely and quality manner, meeting both donor and country office expectations.

6. Will be responsible to initiate the writing of proposals for further project activity in the area as well as possibly similar activities in other parts of the country

7. In collaboration with the PM and other program staff, develop an Action Plan for project implementation.

8. Maintain good lines of communication and relationships with local authorities and the local community.

9. Ensure that all elements of signed MoUs are adhered to by MTI

10. Work with the local health authorities to develop a sense of ownership for the community health promotion efforts. In accordance with project goals and guidance from project management staff, establish mechanisms whereby communities assume responsibility for the maintenance of the project after the departure of MTI.

11. Keep the Project Manager aware of potential need for changes to the project implementation plans with associated time lines.

12. Develop/identify available community health promotion education materials.

13. Develop, coordinate, and conduct trainings for project staff, MOH staff, and communities on health topics.

14. Complete monthly progress reports as required by the Project Manager, and submit reports in a timely manner.

15. Make sure that the quality of the project under your supervision functions according to the specification accepted in advance.

16. Arrange schedule and perform regular project monitoring and related reporting according to documentation and guidelines provided. Ensure that the project monitoring adheres to the monitoring plan.

17. Any other duties as required.

Requirements

1. University degree in related field or equivalent experience.

2. Minimum 5 years work experience in project implementation.

3. Basic spoken and written English proficiency required.

4. Proficiency in Nias language is an advantage.

5. Physically able to spend the majority of time in the field.

6. Skills in Community Management and Community Participation.

7. Ability to effectively communicate with a community in order to identify and solve problems



3. Community Outreach and BCC Specialist (Code : 03-BCC)

Duty Station : Nias Selatan - North Sumatera

Classification : Employee, Grade 3
Estimate Starting Date : 01/07/08

Project Period : 1 (one ) year

Direct Supervisor : Project Manager

General Function :

1. Will work for strategizing the community development component of the program

2. Develop and implement best practices and innovative ways to motivate Kaders and organize groups of Kaders

3. Will liaise with the all important stakeholders for the successful implementation of the program

4. Will plan, develop and promote a community level strategy for grassroots advocacy for better health practices and care

5. Will network with the local health facility and work on an ongoing basis for an integrated partnership with all the partners involved

6. Will assess and document current community practices for care seeking and develop BEHAVE framework, undertake Barrier Analysis

7. Will conduct in any formative research carried out in the program

8. Will devise a BCC strategy and implementation plan based on the baseline data under guidance from Project Manager

9. Will undertake any BCC material development, print or digital based, to be developed to meet the program objectives

10. Evaluate effectiveness of BCC materials in the community by conducting assessments

11. Jointly work with Health Coordinator for revitalization of Posyandus

Requirements

1. Preferably Bachelor Degree in Public Health or social sciences/management /mass communication with minimum 3 years work experiences in development sector / NGOs

2. Community outreach experience in public health would be an advantage

3. Effective verbal and written communication skills and an intuitive listener

4. Excellent organizational skills and capacity, ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

5. Familiarity with community development principles and tools that strengthen community participation

6. Experience in planning and facilitating meetings, identifying community needs, working with community leaders and volunteers of diverse backgrounds.

7. Experience working with an international NGO, with government and local organizations

8. Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia



4. M & E Coordinator (Code : 04-MEC)

Duty Station : Medan (Country Office) – North Sumatera

Classification : Employee, Grade 4
Estimate Starting Date : 01/07/08

Project Period : 1 (one ) year

Direct Supervisor : Program Manager

Qualification:

1.. Design and maintain the monitoring and evaluation plan for the programs according to the donor guidelines and the program requirements
2.. Develop and maintain community based HMIS for the program in a participatory manner
3.. Develop all required formats and data collection systems for the program
4.. Create the detailed area profile for the program areas and constantly update it for program management
5.. Keep all the secondary data required for effective program management updated
6.. Assist Program Manager and Country Director in conducting baseline, mid term and end line evaluations
7.. Document the lessons learned in the program and compile the success stories
8.. Prepare the quarterly HMIS reports for the program management on a timely and error free manner
9.. Will train appropriate staff in MIS systems and
10.. Ensure that data is being used maximum for action planning
11.. Represent program at different forums as and when directed by Program Manager and Country Director
12.. Coordinate with the Project Managers and Program Coordinators for data collection and management
13.. Maintain computerized database and generate computer based analysis as and when required
14.. Will provide input and feedback to programs following progress tracking format.

Requirements

1.. Bachelor degree in one of the following or related fields: Social Sciences/Management /Statistics/ Public Heath
2.. 3 - 5 year(s) of relevant experience required
3.. Computer proficiency with sound experiences on Epi Info SPSS, VB, Ms Acces, etc
4.. Experience quantitative and qualitative researches approaches
5.. Excellent knowledge of the principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluating health programs
6.. Must be able to effectively coordinate and manage implementation of multiple monitoring and evaluation activities in various locations
7.. Must be flexible and able to synthesize information quickly
8.. Excellent writing skills are essential
9.. Ability to contribute to capacity building efforts and work with colleagues in diverse cultures
10.. Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia



5. Community Health Facilitator (Code : 05-CHFN)

Duty Station : Nias Selatan – North Sumatera ( 6 persons)

Classification : Employee, Grade 2

Project Period : 1 (one ) year

Direct Supervisor : Health Coordinator

General Function

1. Develop and maintain good lines of communication and relationships with local authorities and local community.

2. Assist the Health Coordinator (HC) to complete standard Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with community representatives and local authorities. Ensure that all elements of MoU are adhered to. Inform to HC when other parties are failing to meet the agreed upon requirements.

3. Work with the local health authorities to develop a sense of ownership for the health promotion projects. In accordance with project goals and guidance from project management staff, establish mechanism whereby communities assume responsibility for the maintenance of the project after the departure of MTI.

4. Operate according to proper financial control and management according to the budget guidelines provided by MTI.

5. Ensure maintenance of relevant project management and office administrative documentation as required by HC (according to the guidelines provided by MTI).

6. Complete monthly progress reports as required by HC and submit reports in a timely manner.

7. Completely and punctually submit all other required paperwork and records.

8. To arrange schedule and perform regular project monitoring and related reporting according to documentation and guidelines provided. Ensure that the project monitoring adheres to the monitoring plan.

9. Make sure that the quality of the project under your supervision is according to the specification accepted in advance.

Requirements

1.. Associate or Bachelor Degree of Social , Nursing, Midwifery or equivalent with minimum 1 (one) year experiences in related field
2.. Proficiency in Nias language is an advantage.
3.. Written and oral communication skills;
4.. Interpersonal skills : ability to listen, understand and articulate the desires and needs of individual and families.
5.. Negotiation and mediation skills to deal with community and service providers.
